An Integrated Strategy for Maintenance Management

Module 1 introduces you to an integrated and holistic approach to maintenance and asset management. It provides a perspective and structure to apply to an organization to better see how the organizational performance can be improved through areas of maintenance and asset management. It will introduce:
  • The Maintenance Excellence Pyramid.
  • How the parts of the Maintenance Excellence Pyramid are linked including the strategy defining the people requirements needed to execute the tactics; the identification of the maintenance tactics (basic care) and their execution (work management) as well as the other resources required in executing the tactics (information, MRO parts); the use of performance measures to track and improve; and choosing other approaches to further improve.
  • A simple and a more detailed tool to evaluate and better understand organizational position relative to the areas of the Maintenance Excellence Pyramid.

Individuals who successfully complete all 8 modules and are members of the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada can apply for the "Maintenance Management Professional" (MMP) designation from PEMAC. PEMAC is recognized by the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professional (SMRP) as an approved provider of continuing education and training aligned with key subject areas related to reliability and physical asset management.

The MMP program is approved by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Department, "Achievement in Business Competencies" (Blue Seal) program and for "Continuing Education Unit Credits" by Alberta and Ontario Water/Waste Water Operators.
