CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for computer support technicians and this course is designed for individuals interested in working in Information Technology. This course prepares you to write the two exams required to become CompTIA A+ certified.

In this course, learners will understand how to install, configure, and upgrade computers and peripherals with hands-on instruction.  Focus is directed towards how to diagnose and troubleshoot common problems and system malfunctions, implement safety and preventive maintenance procedures, and complete disassembly and rebuild of computer systems.

Learners will also understand how to function as an administrator by setting up user accounts, managing file permissions and directories, working with virtual memory, and implementing network security.

Additional Information

The learning materials fee includes online resources, a digital textbook and a virtual lab environment for practice and self-study.  You will require a computer with a modern web-browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE8+) and internet connectivity for the home-study and practice portion of this course.
 
This course prepares you to write the CompTIA A+ certification exam, available at the Bow Valley College Testing Centre.
